Overview

“Mr. Guettel has a harmonic attunement and romantic temperament that make for music that conveys an almost demonic emotional intensity.” -The New York Times

PSP is thrilled to announce that we are bringing Adam Guettel, the Tony Award winning composer of The Light in the Piazza, to Vancouver.  With the generous support of the Arts Club Theatre Company, PSP offers many opportunities to spend time with one of Broadway’s most vibrant artists.

AN INTIMATE EVENING WITH ADAM GUETTEL
Friday, February 21st @ 8pm
Revue Stage on Granville Island

In 2007 Adam Guettel disappeared into his studio to emerge with five new shows: a fairy tale adventure, the tale of an invisible man, a love story, a parable about the desire to be good and, an opera for the devil.  This is your chance to join Mr. Guettel, along with Floyd Collins Musical Director Jonathan Monro, to discuss his work, his career, and his creative process as he shares selections from these new shows and highlights from his critically acclaimed musicals The Light in the Piazza (for which he won two Tony Awards), Myths and Hymns and Floyd Collins.

The grandson of the great Richard Rodgers who wrote the hits CarouselOklahoma!, and South Pacific, Adam Guettel is one of Broadway’s most vibrant new voices – a composer/lyricist who has created some of the most adventurous musical theatre of the last decade.

This extraordinary event will be followed by an intimate reception with Mr. Guettel in Coal Harbour where guests will have the opportunity to mingle with Mr. Guettel and the cast and company of Floyd Collins.
